Help Us to Reach 1,000 Backers Protesting 5,000 Years of War!
Seymour Chwast’s special gift for backers of his Kickstarter campaign, ending June 9 plus new rewards
By Steve Kroeter June 6, 2016We’ve just reached our Kickstarter funding goal for Seymour Chwast’s new antiwar book, At War with War!
To thank you and to help grow our community of supporters, if we reach 1,000 backers protesting 5,000 years of war, Seymour will send a set of his Artist Postcards to everyone who has pledged for a reward on the Kickstarter campaign.
The Kickstarter ends June 9 so be sure to check out our campaign page if you haven’t already participated. All supporters (book level and above) will be included on the acknowledgments page of the book.
We’ve added some new rewards, including:
Typography treasures: Unpublished fonts, alphabets, and monograms designed by Seymour during the 1960s and ’70s (from $150–$500)
* New antiwar poster, “NO GO,” original 1998 offset poster printed for the Hague Appeal for Peace Conference ($159)
*Original wood blocks used to create the woodcut illustrations included in At War with War and Sam’s Bar, a 1987 book by Seymour Chwast ($395 and $495)
*“Seymour’s Choice 3”: More one-of-a-kind preliminary sketches from the book chosen just for you (and signed) by Seymour ($265)
*Original 4-color mechanical with mark-up for the foldout jacket of The Left-handed Designer by Seymour Chwast ($1,000)
*3-Book Special: Three copies of At War with War for the price of two. Get one for yourself, one for a friend, and one to give to your favorite library! ($136)
From the bottom of our heart, thank you for helping to make a reality a project that the Seattle Review of Books has called “a book that deserves to be in the world.”

Chronicles postwar architects’ and merchants’ invention of the shopping mall, revealing how the design of these marketplaces played an integral role in their cultural ascent. Publishers Weekly writes, “Contending that malls answer ‘the basic human need’ of bringing people together, influential design critic Lange advocates for retrofitting abandoned shopping centers into college campuses, senior housing, and ‘ethnocentric marketplaces’ catering to immigrant communities. Lucid and well researched, this is an insightful study of an overlooked and undervalued architectural form.”
